This is a project I started during my Type Design class at Emily Carr during 3rd year.
We were instructed to choose a neighbourhood around Vancouver and design a display type for that neighbourhood. I chose to focus my assignment on Gastown!
I briefly commuted through Gastown on my way to school from North Vancouver, and I found myself occasionally there meeting classmates for study groups, or sometimes just dinner. The ambience I felt in Gastown seemed very unique in it's aesthetic. The cobble stone streets, the old buildings, the dark palette, and the romantic and masculine atmosphere felt very inspiring on a visual level.
I really loved doing this project. I loved the research, the refinement and the result.
